Race 5 - Saudi Arabia; Race 6 - Miami
I have lacked in my writing of these race rundowns (my procrastination kicked in BIG time). I have quite a few to catch up on so I will be doing it in batches. While the emotions may have faded, my notes from each race are still there and I am sure the emotions will come flooding back as I write these.
Race 5: Saudi Arabia, Jeddah.
I was hoping for the best this race as my favorite driver (LN4) has admitted to struggling on this track and unfortunately he did not place on the podium this race.
The race started with Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly crashing into each other and spinning out in lap 1. This resulted in a safety car and an immediate DNF for Pierre Gasly, then a delayed DNF for Tsunoda.
The next big thing that happened was Max Verstappen getting a 5 second penalty for gaining an advantage over Piastri by going off track. Liam Lawson then got a 10 second penalty for gaining an advantage off track.
Norris and Hamilton also had a battle for their position during the race. Lando did eventually gain the upperhand and came out with P4.
The podium ended up being Oscar P1, Max P2, and Charles P3.
Race 6: Miami.
“Alexa! Play ‘Miami’ by Will Smith!” This song is the epitome of Miami race week and I cannot hear this song without thinking of the Miami GP. I was hoping this would be a good week for Lando Norris. Miami is where he got his first ever win in F1 last year. While he did not get P1 this year, he did end up on the podium. Cue happy dance from me.
At the start of the race, Lando went from P2 to P6 (sobbing and praying).
Liam Lawson hit Jack Doohan and Doohan got a tire puncture and had to DNF in lap 2. Lap 2 brought a virtual safety car (VSC).
This race was another overtake master class from Lando Norris. Lando and Max Verstappen had a slight battle and at one point almost went into the wall.
There was another VSC on lap 29. Ollie Bearman DNF’ed and there was a 5 second penalty for Yuki Tsunoda for speeding in the pit lane.
Can you guess what happened on Lap 33? If you guessed another VSC, that is right!! Lap 33 brought another VSC and Gabriel Bortoleto Dnf’ed. Last but not least another DNF from none other than Liam Lawson.
The podium for Miami was Oscar P1, Lando P2, and George P3. It is worth mentioning that at the checkered flag, George Russell was 32 seconds BEHIND Lando.
Mclaren dominance, say what? Mclaren has an absolute rocket of a car this year and it is showing. The European Triple Header - Imola, Monaco and Barcelona- demonstrated this dominance.
